Unveiled by Xi Jinping at the Boao Forum for Asia in April 2022, the Global Security Initiative is the latest display of China’s ambitions to be a leader in global governance and security architecture. What is Xi’s vision for the initiative? How will it be implemented? What are its geopolitical implications? Please join the CSIS Interpret: China project for a discussion of the Global Security Initiative with leading experts and leveraging newly translated Chinese language documents. The expert panel will feature remarks from Manoj Kewalramani, Chair of the Indo-Pacific Research Programme at the Takshashila Institution, Sheena Chestnut Greitens, an associate professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, and M. Taylor Fravel, the Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor of Political Science at MIT and director of the MIT Security Studies Program. The discussion will be moderated by Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS. |
