The following paper offers a discursive analysis of the “paz total” concept in Colombia. This analysis is based on different narratives that come from plural actors associated with the peace negotiations with irregular armed actors currently carried out by the President Gustavo Petro administration. The starting hypothesis is to understand peace as a changing discursive construction, polysemic according to the place of enunciation that accompanies each actor. To this end, fieldwork was carried out in Bogotá throughout 2023, allowing for in-depth interviews with prominent names in Colombian politics, both progressive and conservative, but also with former leaders of the FARC-EP and paramilitary groups, as well as the military forces. As will be seen, levels of support and backing for the peace range from comprehensive and maximalist approaches, not lacking in voluntarism, to skeptical positions, which are almost a total amendment to the government’s peace policy.
